PRATTVILLE CHRISTIAN — The Prattville Christian Academy Panthers made short work of their first round opponents Tuesday night inside the friendly confines. The Panthers knocked off Holy Spirit 10-0 (girls) and 8-2 (boys) to advance to the second round of the AHSAA 1A-3A Soccer Playoffs where they will host Bayside Academy (boys) and Cottage Hill Christian (girls) later on this week.
Avery Rogers led the Lady Panthers offensive attack as she and Kathleen Cary combined to score five of the team’s 10 goals. The two also combined for four assists. Emily Branch and Savannah Lamar scored a goal a piece. Sarah branch, Jenna Stilling and Riley Johnson finished the outing with an assist each.
In goal, CoCo Thomas and Elle Tice combined for the clean sheet.
The winner of the PCA/Bayside match-up gets the winner of Trinity/Westminster School (Oak Mountain) in the Final Four.
Over on the boys side of the coin, the Panthers were just as effective on the pitch, winning by six goals.
Matthew Lisle’s goal-count sits as 54 now, after forcing Holy Spirit defenders to give up the ghost as he scored four times with an assist. Trey Barkely added a goal and four assists to the total. Jake Davis scored twice and then Cade sEgars added one to the tally. Carson Roberson and Andrew Ouellet added an assist each. The 11-win Panthers moves on to a second round showdown with top ranked Bayside Academy.
The winner gets the winner of St. Luke’s / Westminster (Oak Mountain) in the Final Four.
