ENTERPRISE, ALABAMA — As the weather begins to cool down, competition in the Alabama cross country sphere is only heating up; especially for the Racing Knights of Montgomery Catholic.

On Saturday, Catholic traveled south to Enterprise High to compete in the Enterprise Wildcat Classic.

The Knights’ runners’ hopes were high going into this race. After training consistently throughout the abysmal Alabama summer, the team was buzzing with excitement at the prospect of better running conditions.

The Knights continued their successful season at Enterprise.

Both the girls and boys teams brought home third place, and Catherine Aaron placed second in her race with a time of 20:30. With a total of seven season’s best times, and 13 overall PR’s, Montgomery Catholic only seems to be getting better.

The Racing Knights have proven themselves to be fierce competition in only three meets, with a host of new runners and returning upperclassmen.

It was clear in the beginning, that this season would have to be one of rebuilding for Catholic, and they have certainly succeeded in that endeavor.

It is worth noting that Montgomery Catholic is a smaller team. They only have 27 runners total – microscopic in comparison to most of their competition – so the fact that they have been able to place highly at every meet is remarkable, continuing Catholic’s legacy of strong runners.

They have surpassed expectations in such a short amount of time and plan to keep doing so at their next meet: the Trinity Trailblazer at Gateway Park.
