MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA — This past Saturday, Montgomery Catholic competed in the Trinity Trailblazer, and took home a host of personal records. The Gateway Park course is famous for the fast times it produces, but that only makes the competition steeper.
The pressure’s on for Catholic – particularly the varsity girls – to succeed after proving themselves to be worthy competitors in previous meets.
But the Knights always rise to a challenge, it seems. Catholic’s Varsity Girls placed third, despite being short handed on runners this time around. The boys battled it out against schools like Faith Academy and Tallassee, finishing sixth in a field filled with competitors who will be racing in the postseason.
Catholic is producing some stellar athletes this season, including Catherine Aaron, who placed first in the girl’s varsity race with a time of 19:36.
This local success only adds to the anticipation for Sectionals, a crucible for the athletes that have been training for it since early June. While the temperature may be cooling, the heat is on and it’s on the Racing Knights as they ready sectionals and the chance to once again meet another new challenge.
