CENTRAL ALABAMA SCOREBOARD OFFICE – Over the course of eight games this past weekend the Lady Stix 16U team kept the bats going on the way to winning the Scout Town Showcase event held in Montgomery. The Lady Stix – with a roster of players from Holtville, Marbury, Hooper Academy, St. James, Pike Road and Wetumpka – opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over SSG Sox 16A and followed it up with a 6-6 stalemate with the Alabama Fury 16 squad.

After regrouping, the Lady Stix blasted through KOD (10-1) and Georgia’s Adidas Show Elite (12-0). The rally continued with an 8-5 win over the EC Bullets and an 8-2 win over Birmingham Mustangs. That win moved them to the semifinals where they shutout AP Elite 11-0.

In the championship the Lady Stix met up with Hotshots Platinum. Avery Goff broke the 2-2 gridlock with what ultimately turned out to be the game-winning home run.

Goff’s bomb was indicative of the way her team attacked opposing pitchers. The Lady Stix finished the day with a .376 team batting average with 14 doubles, a triple and eight home runs.

Their pitchers had opposing batters shook: 39 strikeouts and 33 runners left stranded for an ERA of 1.76 with only seven walks allowed over the course of the two days.

The Lady Stix will travel to Irondale this weekend to take part in the Bolts-hosted tournament and that will put a wrap on the fall season.
